Peter Knaack
Peter Knaack is an Associate at CEP as well as Adjunct Professor at the School of International Service, American University, where he teaches Global Governance. He is also a Research Associate at the Centre for Sustainable Finance at SOAS, University of London. His research focuses on green finance, digital finance, and global AI governance. He has worked and published on the political economy of global banking regulation, China’s role in global financial governance, and on ways to apply the mechanisms of expert-led transgovernmental coordination to the emerging field of AI governance. Peter graduated from the University of Southern California with degrees in Economics and International Relations. He learned Chinese at Tsinghua University and has been a visiting scholar at Peking University, Fudan University, and the China University of Political Science and Law. His 2023 monograph examines advances and difficulties in cross-border financial regulatory coordination, assessing the gap between commitments made by G20 leaders in the wake of the global financial crisis and the reality of their implementation.
